Sahara Dreaming


In early 2012, newspapers around the world presented the Sahara desert region as one of instability and war. Photographer Moustafa Cheaiteli decided to bring an alternative perspective.

“Sahara Dreaming” was born of the idea that the world had overlooked this region and that the media merely relayed instability and violence at the expense of a rich and unique culture. Moustafa was determined to use his voyage as an opportunity to open the hearts and minds of his contemporaries by offering an other image of the Sahel, one that was more positive and humane than the headlines seen on TV.
